How I Grew My Instagram Following

How I Grew My Instagram Following from 430 to 433 (then Back Down to 430) in 30 Days

How I Grew My Instagram Following from 430 to 433, then back down to 430 in one month! It's so easy!If you are an entrepreneur and on Instagram then you are all about growth. You see other accounts in your niche who are killing it on IG and you want a piece of that lucrative pie, right? Of course you do! That’s why I’m so excited to share with you my method for Instagram growth. You won’t believe the five easy steps I took to grow my account by three followers, then lose them just as swiftly, in 30 days.

But reader beware, these aren’t for the faint of heart. We all know that to achieve TRUE growth on Instagram that you have to do it right and put in the time.

Alright, let’s get down to it because I know you are eager to hear how I had such huge growth. Follow these five steps and in 30 days I’m sure you’ll see similar results!

  1. Watch no less than 15 webinars and Facebook lives of IG growth experts who you can’t quite tell if they’ve actually ever had a successful business prior to preaching about IG growth. But their account numbers don’t lie, so you need to sit through 20 minutes of a terrible intro (while they wait for enough people to jump on so FB promotes it) before they actually get to tactics. Then you realize most of the tactics are fluff and the others you’ve heard before and you realize you won’t get that half hour back of your life.
  2. Spend 23 hours per day following other relevant accounts and commenting on posts to try and drive 1% of traffic back to your account. Then hope and pray with all your might that they follow you back. NOTE: Your loved ones will not understand why your head is buried in your phone all day. It’s cool. It’s just part of being on the path to success.
  3. Stack your social calendar full of interesting events and gatherings so you can share them on your IG stories. How I Grew My Instagram Following If it’s a choice between sharing your kid’s soccer game or an awesome boomerang of RosΓ© Sunday with your girlfriends, skip the game. Your kids will understand. And speaking of kids… IG LOVES kids. Well, the cute ones anyway. Preferably under the age of 6 and only if they are wearing whimsical and chic clothing that costs more than your entire wardrobe. So prepare accordingly.
  4. Be real and authentic. In the same way that Taco Bell is real and authentic Mexican food. Meaning the photos you share on IG are actually your life, but more palatable to the masses. Posting about T-Bell isn’t a bad idea either…
  5. You’ll want to partner with a brand or an Etsy shop to give away something you think your followers have to have. Then make them jump through 15 hoops in order to qualify for the giveaway. Some ways to make it count is to have them follow you, follow the account the giveaway product is from, follow your sister’s account, tag 25 friends, have all 25 friends follow your account, follow your dog’s account, and have them send you a video of them patting their head while simultaneously rubbing their belly in a circular motion. All of that for the chance to win a $25 item will be sure to get you the growth you are looking for.

And that’s it! How easy is that? And if you do all of those steps I am confident that you will gain three followers and lose them almost immediately. Can you believe it? I wish someone would have told me about this method sooner but I’m so happy to share with you what I’ve learned.

Oh, and did I mention that I will be hosting a webinar that will give you EVEN MORE amazing insights like these? I’ll be sharing how I grew my FB group from 50 members to 53, so you won’t want to miss out! It’s FREE!

I just followed you and all your friends on all your Social Channels. πŸ™‚ Haha, best blogging article I’ve read in awhile. If I could only give one piece of advice to a new blogger (I’ve been blogging about 2o months) is to go head down and spend your time creating great content and sharing it where you can. DO NOT be suckered into every free webinar or purchase those $5, $7, $9, $59 webinar and ecourses. Yep, I fell for all those and none of them helped.

    • Reply SelfiestoSelfless October 9, 2017 at 5:03 pm

Great advice! I’m trying to send out the best content I can and hoping even one person finds it helpful. Thanks for reading!

And I thought I was the only one climbing down the IG ladder 🀣. I’m just wondering how long it will take for me to get to zero. When that happens what will I do, start over? Will the numbers go up if I get to zero? Instagram sucks!

The thing is for me as soon as I gave the daily scheduled posts and constant comments and likes a go, I got less engagement and less followers than my random nonsense :)) So yeah.. I’ll just be doing my own thing, no schedule, no going out of my way to find creative comments for other posts. It is what it is. I like what I like, and when I comment “awesome photo” I really think it is :)) . It will grow on it’s own pace… because dear IG I’m not going to promote anything because it’s doing better than 95% of my posts.

  • Reply Karolina October 11, 2017 at 6:14 am

  • Reply Aaron Collins October 11, 2017 at 6:43 am

Man this is so on point.

The only thing you maybe left out was the hashtag strategies to ensure each post attracts a bunch of likes from bots who clearly would never have an interest in your content, comments like “nice post, keep it up!” and new follows from random Russian accounts, people’s pets, and the like who will unfollow you in about an hour, while attracting almost zero real humans since normal people don’t browse hashtags.

  • Reply Christy October 11, 2017 at 7:41 am

Hahaha, perfect! Mind you, I do have a cute baby who looks awesome in chic clothes. I just need to win the lottery so I can afford to dress him Instagram-style and I’ll probably gain at least 10 followers!

    • Reply SelfiestoSelfless October 11, 2017 at 8:44 am

It’s a lot easier to just have a 9 to 5 job”. But the worst thing about it all are all the fake comments from bots you start getting when you begin to use hashtags to promote your pictures. So annoying. I’ve written a similar rant to yours, here’s the link if you’re interested πŸ™‚ https://notmybirthplace.com/2017/07/19/instagram-im-scared-of-you/

I love your wonderful sense of humour! No. 5 is superb – loop giveaways which once felt ingenious but now just gets on my nerves when I see a flatlay of products. I must say, there’re indeed many experts of fluff these days! =P

Andrea, just for writing this post, I am going to follow you in Instagram and not unfollow you no matter what. FROM BOTH OF MY ACCOUNTS! So that’s two new followers. BTW, loved this post. It’s exactly how I feel about Instagram right now!

Omg this is my favorite article I’ve ever read and I think we should be BFFs. Or at least we should start an Instagram Pod and be the only ones commenting on each other’s posts.

    • Reply SelfiestoSelfless October 12, 2017 at 8:04 pm

If the Instagram pod will guarantee me terrible growth then I’m in!!

  • Reply heather October 12, 2017 at 9:56 pm

  • Reply Simona October 13, 2017 at 2:20 pm

Perfect post for a Friday morning, read while wrecking my brains on the same topic! Hilarious! I thought I am the only inept one that cannot master the otherwise “very simple” task of getting followers on IG. I actually gave up months ago when faced with the same issues: post, post, post get one follower and lose 5 in the process. Mind boggling… Anyway, if it’s any consolation, I raised the number of your followers by 1 and I promise to stay there… πŸ˜„

I live this! You summed up my thoughts about these Instagram growth trainings and posts beautifully.

I’ve stopped signing up for courses because they really are a waste of time and full of fluff.

  • Reply Monika October 13, 2017 at 11:45 pm

It’s the best post I’ve ever read about growing followers on Instagram. Honestly, I feel the same. Though, I managed somehow to gain and lose 20 followers in a week. Achievement unlocked πŸ˜€

    • Reply SelfiestoSelfless October 14, 2017 at 8:11 am

Next level! This week shoot for 30 gained 40 lost. Good luck!

    • Reply Tricia Murdock | Chocolate Musings October 14, 2017 at 10:41 am

That IS next level! It’s hard not to ride the social media rollercoaster. But it feels so good when you deny that ride and just continue in life.

This is the BEST article I’ve read so far! Growing IG followers organically is a tough job πŸ˜‚ I keep opening these accounts and they’re all like 10k, 15k … wtf, that’s impossible! And then I open their pictures to see how many likes they get and realize it’s fake followers πŸ™„ it’s a crazy world, IG. But seriously m, love love love this article, sums up exactly how I feel πŸ˜‚ thank you ☺️

  • Reply Tricia Murdock | Chocolate Musings October 14, 2017 at 10:39 am

Isn’t this the truth! It’s so hard not be obsessed. Then when you see the notification that someone followed, and you look at it – and you can tell that they are following you just to get you to follow them back. I count the days before my IG drops a notch in followers and know that they have left my tribe.

  • Reply Stephanie October 14, 2017 at 10:39 am

So true! So many “how to” posts are just “what happened when I bought this” fluff posts. I hate that.

I don’t mind buying things but I do mind expecting a tutorial and not getting one.

And yet my frustration with these types of posts/webinars/courses has lead me to create my own blogging blog in a way. πŸ€” It’s my mission to create ACTUALLY USEFUL content.

Thanks for the actually authentic blogging post haha. I think we’ve all been there at some point. I’ve taken the “I’m just gonna post and if people notice me, great” approach because this is exactly what happens. I could be spending that effort elsewhere.

Best IG growth blog post ever!!! I needed this today, to remind me that followers dont matter, only friends!
I am a all natural growth page and I have been at the same number for 3 months now, with all the follow unfollow crap. Now I only follow people I genuinely like and if they engage with my page more than once I follow back IF we have stuff in common.

I have seriously given up on all the IG “knowledge” and going back to my roots, real everything. I have never bought followers, likes, or comments, but I have played the strategy game, DONEZO! I could care less if girls got 10, 20, 30 thousand followers, my under 10k is great! They came and stayed because I am real, that makes me feel good. Almost 6k WOMEN ONLY is absolutely a win for me.

thanks for sharing this, I feel like we could be instabesties, you read my mind, and SAID IT OUT LOUD. awesome!
    xoxo Carleeh

Hahaha, I love it! And I totally get it. I finally decided (today!) to give up (temporarily) on Instagram and focus on other channels that drive traffic to my blog. I know it’ll give me more time to do things with better ROI – no more spending precious time on emails, blog posts, webinars, courses, etc. about upping your IG game. No more staying on to of IG pods, creating/editing/schedule daily posts, sharing posts on Facebook groups. After spending so much time watching my IG numbers go up after hours of work only to find they drop right back to again, now that I’ve made this decision I feel so free!
