On cold winter days, the only thing that sounds good is a hot cup of hot chocolate. I’m not a coffee drinker so this is my drink of choice if I need to warm up.
But sometimes those Swiss Miss hot chocolate packets are just not good enough to satisfy my hot chocolate cravings. So I went on a Pinterest hunt for a great hot chocolate recipe. I came across this one and was intrigued by the crock-pot element.
I have served it a handful of times now and always come away with rave reviews. It’s so creamy. It’s like drinking a milk chocolate bar. Absolutely heaven.
The only downside to this version is it takes two hours in the crock-pot, though on occasion I have cranked it up to high heat to make it go faster and as long as I stirred it frequently it seemed to work just fine. But the wait is worth it!
Crock Pot Hot Chocolate
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk I've used different amounts in each batch. Use the whole can if you like it sweeter.
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 8 cups milk I've added more if the crowd is large and it worked out great
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Add the first five ingredients into the crock-pot and mix them together.
Add the chocolate chips. Watch for splash back, there’s really no way around it, but just a heads up.
Put crock-pot on low for two hours.
Stir occasionally to break up the chocolate chips.
Again, if you are pressed for time you can probably turn up to high. However, be sure to stir often so the ingredients don’t burn.
