My kids LOVE grilled cheese sandwiches. And look, I get it. It’s bread and melty cheese. It’s delicious. But I get tired of serving it so much so this version puts a little twist to the original.
Pizza sauce, pepperoni, cheese. All great pizza toppings and all great additions to the grilled cheese sandwich. Surprise your kids with this one!
You can even sneak in some veggies with this recipe. I like to throw in spinach and the kids can’t even taste them. Win!
I usually try and make this with Texas toast bread because it holds up better with the sauce, but regular bread can work too. Just put the sauce in between the pepperoni and the cheese instead of putting it on the bread itself. Enjoy!
Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
It doesn't get any easier than this! Spread some pizza sauce, add toppings and cheese and grill them up! Your kids will love them.
- Texas Toast (Regular bread works too)
- 1 pkg Sliced Mozzarella
- 1 jar/can Pizza sauce
- Toppings: Pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, etc.
- Mayonaise (about a 1/2 TBSP for each piece of bread)
- 1 tsp Oregeno
Warm pan to medium heat. Spread back side of bread with a thin amount of mayo. Place one piece of bread mayo side down in pan. Assemble ingredients by spreading sauce, adding toppings, adding cheese, then adding other slice of bread mayo side up.
Cook until bottom side is brown and crispy, flip sandwich and cook until that side is also brown and crispy. Enjoy!
